Hailing from Minneapolis, Bryan Black began his career as a sound designer for Prince, forging his production scope and capabilities at the renowned Paisley Park Studios. In 2002 Black relocated to London, teaming up with French musician Olivier Grasset to form Motor—a live fusion of techno and electro that saw the duo quickly signed to Mute Records. The duo have since amassed a string of releases, including four albums ‘Klunk’, ‘Unhuman’, ‘Metal Machine’, and the most recent ‘Man Made Machine’. They have also shared stages with the likes of Daft Punk and Kraftwerk, and supported Depeche Mode in their 2009 worldwide tour.

Realising the duo had strayed far from its techno origins, in early 2011 Black set to work on a new project. The result—Black Asteroid—caught the attention of Chris Liebing, who proceeded to put out his debut effort ‘The Engine EP’ shortly after, to critical acclaim. In Black’s own words ‘The Engine EP’ “was all sweat and adrenaline”, which was followed up by an even higher octane rework of “Engine 1” by Dave Clarke and Mr. Jones.

In 2012 Bryan Black made his blackasteroid debut on Electric Deluxe with ‘Black Acid’—an analogue fashioned EP that made as much an impact audibly as visually, with its uniquely commissioned black on black sleeve design. This was followed by a remix package supporting reinventions of “Black Acid”, “Hydrogen” and “Pressure” from Perc, Alva Noto, Len Faki, Angel Costa and DJ Emerson.

미니아폴리스 출신의 브라이언 블랙은 너무나도 유명한 Prince의 사운드 디자이너로 커리어를 시작하여 잘 알려진 Paisley Park Studio에서 Prince와 작업하며 프로듀서로의 영역을 확장해왔다. 2002년 블랙은 런던으로 이주하여 프랑스 뮤지션 Olivier Grasset과 함께 Techno와 Electro가 결합된 형태의 라이브를 선보이는 Motor를 결성하였으며 'Klunk', 'Unhuman', 'Metal Machine' 그리고 'Man Made Machine'을 포함하여 지속적으로 앨범을 발표했다. Motor는 Daft Punk, Kraftwerk와 같은 무대에서 다양한 공연을 선보였으며 2009년 Depeche Mode의 세계 투어를 서포트하는등, 활동을 지속해왔다.

2011년, 블랙은 새로운 프로젝트를 시작하는데, 바로 Black Asteroid가 그것이다. 데뷔 앨범인 Engine EP로 Chris Liebing의 관심을 사로잡았고, 연이어 평론가들의 찬사가 이어졌다. 블랙에 의하면 Engine EP는 에너지와 아드레날린 그 자체였으며, Dave Clarke와 Mr. Jones가 리믹스한 Black Asteroid의 Engine 1 역시 뒤이은 유명세를 떨쳤다.

2012년, 블랙은 Electric Deluxe에서의 첫 앨범인 Black Acid를 발매했고, 이 아날로그적인 EP는 사운드만큼 비주얼로도 임팩트를 남겼다. Black Acid EP에 수록된 "Black Acid", "Hydroen" 그리고 "Pressure"는 Perc, Alva Noto, Len Faki, Angel Costa, DJ Emerson 같은 아티스트들로부터 리믹스와 서포팅을 받고 있다.
